Free port communication protocol refers to a communication method without standard specifications. The two parties can make free agreements or not make any agreements. They can simply receive/send data. The most common free port communication example in industrial sites is the reading of barcode scanner data.
XB6 series serial communication module XB6-C01SP of Solidot Technology supports free port communication mode, provides RS232/RS485/RS422 three-in-one interface, supports Modbus RTU/Ascii master station, supports transparent transmission and Freeport, supports customization of each master station function block, and can meet the needs of most industrial sites.

1. System topology diagram
This example uses the XB6 series EtherNet/IP coupler XB6-EI2002ST and XB6 series serial communication module XB6-C01SP of Solidot Technology to realize free port data interaction through RS485 wiring and serial port tools.
2. Serial port module configuration parameters
1、Introduction of XB6-C01SP parameters
2、Configure the serial port module parameters, which must be consistent with the serial port tool end
3. Freeport Data Interaction Example
1. Introduction to XB6-C01SP free port process data
2. Demonstration: Use Freeport to send 10 bytes and receive 15 bytes
2.1 Configuration parameters
Communicate Mode: Select Freeport;
Modbus Slave Respond Delay: Select 200ms, which indicates the sending interval of output data, in ms;
2.2 Configuration control word
Sending means output, enable the output control word, the length is 10 bytes, i.e. 10001010 (Bin) = 0x8A (Hex);
Receiving means input, enable the input control word, the length is 15 bytes, i.e. 10001111 (Bin) = 0x8F (Hex);
2.3 Start sending/receiving data
